Summary:
The ESL Teacher is responsible for providing instruction to students learning the English language. They must create a supportive and encouraging environment for students, plan and deliver engaging lessons, assess student progress, and adapt instruction to meet individual needs.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver lessons to a range of classes and age groups
- Develop and implement appropriate teaching strategies to engage and challenge learners
- Adapt teaching methodologies to meet the individual needs of each student
- Prepare classroom activities and learning materials
- Develop and administer assessments to measure student progress
- Monitor student participation and progress and communicate regularly with students, colleagues, and parents/caregivers
- Maintain accurate student records and attendance sheets
- Create a supportive and respectful learning environment for all students
- Participate in professional development activities
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, staff, and other stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in education, teaching, linguistics, or a related field
- TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, or other relevant teaching certification
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
- Experience teaching ESL to adults and/or children in classroom settings
- Experience and/or familiarity with diverse cultures and customs
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Attention to detail, ability to organize and prioritize work
- Experience in using technology to enhance teaching and learning is an added advantage
