Purpose of the role

The Legal Contracts Officer will assist the Legal Counsel in providing legal and contract advice and support across all aspects of company operations.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide effective contract administration and support, preparing, maintaining and filing contract documents, variations, deeds, various legal documents and correspondence.
  • Administer contracts in accordance with approved internal guidelines and procedures, updating contract details to maintain the integrity of contract information.
  • Review external legal agreements and provide advice to various departments within the organisation.
  • Proactively identify and manage contract risks to meet organisational obligations and achieve the planned outcomes of the contract.
  • Support teams in tender management, supplier selection, contractor, and customer performance activities.
  • Establish and maintain stakeholder and supplier relationships to identify and minimise risk and maximise value from the contract.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of relationship management initiatives.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in law, and / or equivalent experience.
  • Eligible for an Australian Practicing Certificate.
  • Key Knowledge and Experience
  • In-depth understanding of contract law and privacy law, with a proven ability to apply legal research skills effectively.
  • Strong professional ethics and integrity, complemented by exceptional judgment and a knack for analyzing complex situations to deliver creative, efficient solutions.

Skills

  • Outstanding communication abilities, both verbal and written, with a talent for drafting clear, concise documents in plain English.
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail, ensuring tasks are completed thoroughly, logged accurately, and reported effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and administrative skills, paired with proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
