PANDA provides support to new and expecting parents across Australia, helping those affected by perinatal mental health challenges. We operate the only National Perinatal Mental Health Helpline.
The Role
PANDA is seeking a Telephone Counsellor to provide phone-based clinical and counselling support to new and expecting parents. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, counsellors, and peer support volunteers, delivering person-centred care. This role includes direct service delivery as well as participation in professional development, resource creation, and training activities.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver phone-based counselling, risk assessments, and care coordination.
• Provide intake, triage, psychoeducation, and resource sharing to parents and families.
• Maintain accurate client records and data using PANDA’s systems.
• Contribute to service improvement and collaborate with the team on clinical and peer support practices.
• Participate in professional development and uphold PANDA’s mission and values.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential:
• Strong teamwork, communication, and organisational skills.
• Experience in person-centred care and clinical decision-making.
• Proficient in admin, data collection, and MS Office.
• Commitment to supporting parents' mental health and diversity.
• Knowledge of perinatal mental health and referral pathways.
Desirable:
• Experience in phone-based or virtual mental health services.
• Background in perinatal mental health, triage, or intake.
• Experience in education or resource development.
Requirements:
• Tertiary qualification in mental health or counselling.
• Membership/eligibility for relevant professional bodies.
• 2+ years' experience in mental health or counselling.
• Current checks (Working With Children and criminal).
• Home office setup for remote work.
